Prom Video

Prom VideoHaving your school prom filmed is a great way to capture the atmosphere of the evening – but it has to be good quality to combat the cheese factor. Professional videographers – particularly those who are experienced in weddings and large public events – are a safe bet. Not only do they know the techniques that will convey a sense of the evening years later, they will also have good quality equipment and the ability to edit material well.

A DVD of the prom can be a great memento; you could send out an early order form in the run up to the prom so that the videographer has an idea of how many guaranteed sales there are. That information will help you to negotiate a price, make sure that you get a detailed breakdown of what’s included in their package and how much each DVD will cost afterwards.

Also, make sure that you see a sample of their work. As proms are relatively new in the UK, don’t be surprised if they don’t have many samples of prom footage (if they do that’s a huge bonus) but you will be able to get a sense of how good they are from wedding and event videos. Pay attention to the testimonials, and how long they’ve been in business; the videography industry has a high turnover and you want someone who has been in business for at least a couple of years to be certain they have the experience to handle such a large event.
