Judging and fairness

Anything like this can quickly descend into a popularity contest, and of course there’s no getting away from an element of that. To make it as fair as possible, get a couple of people from the committee, the head girl and boy and a few teachers together to see who would be willing to set aside a little bit of time on the night. Agree on the judging criteria before the night so every one knows what to look for.

Don’t forget to decide who will be announcing and giving the prizes.

It isn’t all about the most expensive

It’s easy to be dazzled by something that has cost a lot of money, but originality doesn’t always equate with the most expensive. Yes, it can be so cool for someone to arrive in a Ferrari, but the person who decorated their family car in a creative, fun way might have put much more effort into arriving in style. Decide who you would prefer to give the spotlight to and keep that in mind on the night.

Prizes

These don’t have to be grand – it could be as simple as a teddy bear with a t-shirt printed for the occasion for example. You could design a funky prize certificate for each one that would be nice thing for the winner to keep.Prom Night Prizes

Capture the moment of fame!

If you are going to have prizes, make sure that there is a big announcement and that the photographer has been warned so he or she has a chance to get set up in the right place. Then the winners can be snapped collecting their prize, and have a pose afterwards for posterity.
