Prom Fireworks
Everyone loves fireworks, right? And there is no better way of making your school prom fantastically memorable for everyone than having a fireworks display. We’re not talking about a few bangers and a couple of rockets set off by the P.E. teacher, we’re talking about an amazing display that can only be arranged by a professional fireworks company.
Practical considerations
If you want to have a fireworks display on your prom night, your school will have to contact your local authority to see if there are restrictions on when and where firework displays can take place, and whether special permissions need to be sought. The reason you need to do this is because schools are often built in or near residential areas, and there are rules about public displays that may cause a disturbance. It may simply boil down to a time frame that you have to hold the display in- e.g. before 10pm.
If you’re school still has a sports field, then that is likely to be the best place for a fireworks company to do the display, but whatever you do, make sure you contact them well in advance so they can come to the school and evaluate where the best place to set up is. There will need to be a cordoned off area for the firework team to set up and release the fireworks safely, and a safe location for the prom guests to enjoy them.
Bearing in mind that prom season is in the summer, you’ll have to have the display late in the evening once it has got dark. Make sure that you time other prom events carefully so that you will be able to announce the start of the display and get everyone outside to watch in good time, and not risk having people miss it.
Why go to a professional fireworks display company?
There are many reasons why this is better than recruiting a member of staff or parents for the display. The first and most obvious is safety; professional fireworks companies have a great deal of experience and have public liability insurance that covers all possible eventualities. It’s unlikely that your school’s insurance policy will cover fireworks displays so thoroughly, if at all.
Secondly, a professional display is head and shoulders above anything that can be arranged by amateurs. Fireworks companies know which fireworks go well together, can time them perfectly and even set them to music if you wish.
Thirdly, having a professional team means that everyone can stand back and enjoy them, without running around trying to buy fireworks out of season and set up during the day, and then be at the other side of the field to set them all off. Getting a professional team in means that everyone can relax knowing that the display will not only be safe, but fantastic too.
