Prom Night Emergency Kits
Unless the emergency involves accidents, alien invasion or freak weather, the odds are you can predict the little things that could happen on the night that would spoil a perfect prom.
The trick is to be prepared. Put together an emergency kit a week before the prom and pack it into the handbag you will have on the night. That way, in the run up and excitement of getting ready, you won’t forget it as it will already be in your bag.
We think there are 12 must-haves in your prom night kit – you will probably have some of your own to add.
1 Contact lens holder (or replacement disposables if you use them).
2 Cover up – for the angry spot that pops out half way through the night (we’ve all been there!)
3 Tampax – The compact ones are discreet enough to keep in your bag.
4 Bottle of clear nail varnish – This works wonders for laddered tights – just catch the run early, dab a bit of varnish at the end of it and the ladder will be stopped in its tracks.
5 Painkillers – Excitement + dancing + loud music + yelling = headache.
6 Face powder – If you’re shiny from dancing, don’t just reapply – blot your face first with tissue, then dab on a tiny bit of powder.
7 Nail file – It won’t bring a broken nail back, but it’ll stop you ripping hosiery to shreds!
8 Local taxi firm number on a card – Just in case your travel arrangements fall through and your mobile runs out of battery.
9 Mints – Well, you never know…
10 Safety pins – Some prom dresses might not survive an entire night on the dance floor.
11 Plasters – The shoes may have felt great at home, but there’s nothing like a pair of fancy high heels to give you blisters.
12 Make-up mirror – Just in case you can’t actually get to the mirror in the Ladies loo!
