Look Perfect in your Prom Photos
The camera seems to love some people, but what if you’re not one of them? Don’t run away when the cameras come out, or ‘accidentally’ miss your slot for the formal photographs – simply follow our advice for looking at your best in the prom photos.
To look slimmer
If you look at the Oscar night poses, you’ll notice that stars rarely stand front on for a posed photograph. To achieve the same slimming effect, turn slightly away from the photographer with your body, but still look towards it obviously! Put one foot in front of the other, toe pointing towards the camera, but with your weight on your back foot. It doesn’t hurt to pull your tummy in a bit – but not too much. Standing straight with your shoulders back also does a lot to make you look toned.
To get rid of the fake smile
This might need practice (ideally in your room when no-one is there) but one way to do this according to the professionals is to look away until the last moment, and then turn to the photographer and smile. Use with caution – otherwise you might end up with badly timed pictures of you half-looking at the camera.
To prevent adding ten pounds
Make sure the photographer is either at the same level or slightly above you; if the photographer is snapping away at a lower angle, it will make you look bigger than you are.
To stop the shine
If you’ve been dancing away, you need to blot your skin with a tissue, and then apply a tiny bit of powder. Never apply the powder without blotting any perspiration away first.
To have the perfect smile
Take two minutes in the bathroom to reapply your lipstick (never try to do this without a mirror) and if you’ve been eating, have a sneaky peek to make sure there aren’t any embarrassing crumbs stuck in your teeth – yuck!
