Countdown to your Perfect Prom

The best way to avoid stress is to plan ahead – and as that’s desperately boring we’ve done the hard work for you. It can’t possibly include everything you need to do, it’s just a few pointers to help you be prepared in good time.

Don’t forget that many of the prom suppliers you might need will be in peak demand in the summer – there will be other schools having proms and weddings too, so book as early as you can whenever possible.

As soon as possible:

  • Start collecting ideas for your perfect prom gown
  • Start saving up for your personal prom budget
  • Begin a healthy routine if you want to lose weight
  • Decide what prom transport you want and get quotes

Six – four months before

  • Start shopping for prom gowns
  • Book your chosen prom transport

Two months before

  • Decide on a prom gown and start looking for accessories
  • Have a practice session with the hairdresser
  • Reserve your tuxedo
  • Book make-up artist and have practice session

One month before

  • Hired clothing fitting
  • Buy your dress if you haven’t already

Two weeks before

  • Final dress fitting if adjustments being made
  • Wear shoes around the house
  • Have your hair coloured if you’ve planned to do so
  • Confirm transport booking
  • Choose corsage design and order (or give date details to order yours)

One week before

  • Have any waxing or beauty treatments for your face done
  • Pick up hired clothing if possible
  • Try on your whole outfit together
  • Confirm details with make-up artist and hairdresser Pay before
  • Iron shirt
  • Lay out outfit with all accessories and everything you need to get ready
  • Have an early night!

On the day

  • Collect corsage
  • Have hair put up / styled
  • Have make-up done

After the prom

  • Return any hired items
  • Send dress to specialist dry cleaners
  • Collect all prom memorabilia together in a keepsake box
  • Have corsage preserved if you wish
